3-Z Ginpachi Sensei

Class 3-Z Ginpachi-sensei is a series of light novels written by Tomohito Ohsaki, which takes place in an alternate Gintama universe where the cast attends high school together as the students and the staff. Original Gintama author Hideaki Sorachi provided the illustrations sprinkled throughout the books. Ginpachi-sensei was serialized in Jump Square but is not officially available in English.

Ginpachi-sensei is parody of the television drama Class 3-B Kinpachi-sensei. The Gintama version is set in Gintama High School, where Gintoki is a language teacher named Ginpachi. His class includes much of the main cast: the rest of the Yorozuya, the Shinsengumi, and even the Kiheitai! Prince Hata appears as the principal, while characters like Matsudaira, Otose, Gengai, Zenzo, Tsukuyo, and Sakamoto take on roles as fellow teachers.

Ginpachi first appeared as a bonus segment in the original manga, which was later adapted into anime and also treated as a bonus segment. Some Question Corners from the manga volumes, which were fan-submitted questions answered by Sorachi, were also animated with Ginpachi as the narrator. Episode 194 especially includes several anime shorts titled BE-BOP Kamui-kun.

A two-page Ginpachi story is included with Volume 2 and was animated at the end of Episode 5.

Ginpachi-sensei is also featured in ending songs 4 and 16 in the anime.

An anime adaptation is scheduled for October 2025!
